Lab Testing & COA Policy
Virgin Islands Exotics, LLC (“VI Exotics,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to product transparency, accurate batch and lot identification, traceability, and maintaining access to laboratory documentation associated with the products we offer.
This policy explains how VI Exotics uses Certificates of Analysis (“COAs”), laboratory documentation, batch and lot identifiers, QR codes, product labeling, and related records to support product transparency, traceability, and compliance.
BATCH & LOT TRACEABILITY
VI Exotics identifies products using batch- or lot-specific records designed to maintain a traceable connection between the product received, the applicable laboratory documentation, and the finished VI Exotics product.
VI Exotics may assign an internal lot identifier to products for inventory, packaging, quality-control, and traceability purposes.
An internal VI Exotics lot identifier does not replace or alter the original laboratory batch or source batch information associated with the applicable product.
Where applicable, VI Exotics maintains records linking its internal lot identifier to the corresponding source batch, laboratory documentation, and related product records.
Laboratory results and cannabinoid information apply only to the batch or lot associated with the applicable documentation and should not be assumed to represent another batch, lot, strain, or product.
CERTIFICATES OF ANALYSIS
A Certificate of Analysis (“COA”) is laboratory documentation containing analytical information associated with a particular product sample, batch, or lot.
VI Exotics may rely on batch-specific laboratory documentation produced by an independent laboratory and provided directly or indirectly through a product supplier, manufacturer, producer, distributor, processor, packager, or other authorized source.
VI Exotics does not represent that every laboratory test associated with a VI Exotics product was personally commissioned by VI Exotics.
Where appropriate, VI Exotics maintains or provides access to the COA associated with the source batch or lot represented by the finished product.
Customers are encouraged to review the COA associated with the specific batch or lot they receive.
SOURCE BATCH DOCUMENTATION
When VI Exotics receives or offers product associated with laboratory documentation, VI Exotics may use that documentation as part of its compliance, quality-control, classification, and traceability process when reasonably appropriate.
VI Exotics may maintain records connecting the finished VI Exotics product to:
-
The source product or strain
-
Supplier or source batch information
-
VI Exotics internal lot identification
-
Applicable laboratory documentation
-
Date received or acquired
-
Packaging or processing records where applicable
-
Quantity received
-
Quantity packaged or otherwise allocated where applicable
-
Other records reasonably appropriate for traceability or compliance
VI Exotics does not intentionally assign laboratory results from one source batch to a different or unrelated batch.
PACKAGING & FINISHED PRODUCT TRACEABILITY
Eligible products may be packaged or repackaged into VI Exotics-branded retail packaging where permitted by applicable law.
Where licensing, authorization, registration, testing, packaging, labeling, or facility requirements apply, packaging or repackaging may be performed only through methods, persons, facilities, or third parties determined appropriate for the applicable product and jurisdiction.
When a product is packaged or repackaged, VI Exotics seeks to preserve the traceable connection between the finished product and the laboratory documentation associated with the underlying source batch.
Packaging or repackaging alone does not mean that VI Exotics performed new laboratory testing or created a new laboratory batch.
Where applicable law requires additional testing, final-package testing, retesting, product registration, or other laboratory or regulatory procedures after packaging or repackaging, VI Exotics may satisfy the applicable requirements through an appropriately authorized source or restrict availability of the affected product or jurisdiction.
VI Exotics does not represent that upstream laboratory documentation satisfies every testing requirement in every jurisdiction.
QR CODE ACCESS
VI Exotics products may include a QR code or other reference on product packaging or a compliance label that provides access to batch- or lot-specific laboratory documentation.
Customers should use the QR code or reference associated with the specific product and lot in their possession.
If a QR code becomes unavailable, cannot be scanned, or does not display the applicable documentation, customers may contact VI Exotics for assistance locating the relevant COA.
The presence of a QR code does not constitute a representation that a product has been approved, certified, authorized, or endorsed by a governmental authority.
PRODUCT LABEL INFORMATION
A VI Exotics product may contain batch- or lot-specific information on its packaging or an applied compliance label.
Depending on the product and applicable requirements, information may include:
-
Product or strain name
-
Net weight
-
VI Exotics lot identification
-
Source or laboratory batch identification
-
Cannabinoid profile or potency information
-
THCa or delta-9 THC information where applicable
-
Laboratory or testing information
-
QR code or other reference to the applicable COA
-
Other information required or appropriate under applicable law
Product labeling and laboratory documentation should be reviewed together when evaluating batch-specific information.
UNDERSTANDING LABORATORY RESULTS
Laboratory results represent analytical findings associated with the particular sample submitted for testing.
Cannabis flower is an agricultural product, and characteristics may naturally vary between plants, harvests, portions of a batch, samples, and separate production lots.
A laboratory result should therefore be interpreted in connection with the sample, batch, lot, testing method, and documentation to which it relates.
Laboratory results associated with one batch should not be assumed to represent another batch of the same strain or another VI Exotics product.
Customers should refer to the documentation associated with the specific batch or lot identified on the product they receive.
CANNABINOID INFORMATION
Where cannabinoid information is displayed by VI Exotics, we seek to reproduce or reference the values contained in the applicable laboratory documentation accurately.
VI Exotics does not intentionally alter laboratory results or represent laboratory values as having been independently generated by VI Exotics when they were produced by a third-party laboratory.
Minor differences in formatting, decimal presentation, rounding, or display may occur. Customers should refer to the applicable COA for the laboratory's complete analytical results.
LABORATORY SCOPE
Laboratory testing may vary depending on the product, source, jurisdiction, purpose of testing, and applicable requirements.
Depending on the laboratory panel performed, documentation may include analysis relating to:
-
Cannabinoid potency
-
Terpenes
-
Pesticides
-
Heavy metals
-
Microbial contaminants
-
Mycotoxins
-
Residual solvents
-
Other analytes or testing categories
The inclusion of one category of testing does not mean that every product has been tested for every possible substance, contaminant, characteristic, or risk.
Customers should review the actual COA associated with their product to determine the testing performed for that batch.
PRODUCT CLASSIFICATION & REGULATORY TESTING
Where product classification is relevant, VI Exotics may use applicable batch-specific laboratory documentation as one component of evaluating product composition and classification under the legal standards applicable at the relevant time.
Where applicable, those standards may include 7 U.S.C. § 1639o, 21 U.S.C. § 802(16), applicable regulations, and applicable state, territorial, Tribal, or local requirements, in each case as amended and in effect at the relevant time.
Laboratory documentation used for customer transparency or finished-product information does not necessarily constitute the same sampling, testing, or compliance documentation required of a producer, manufacturer, processor, distributor, or other regulated person under applicable law.
Where source-production testing requirements apply, VI Exotics may consider documentation generated under 7 C.F.R. Part 990 or corresponding jurisdiction-specific requirements where relevant and appropriate.
Laboratory results may support a compliance or classification determination but do not independently establish that a product may lawfully be sold, shipped, delivered, possessed, transported, distributed, or used in every jurisdiction.
No COA, laboratory result, QR code, label, batch identifier, or other documentation alters the legal classification of a product or authorizes activity otherwise prohibited by applicable law.
Additional information is contained in our Product Compliance Policy.
NO GUARANTEE OF LEGAL STATUS
Laboratory testing, COAs, QR codes, product labels, source documentation, batch identifiers, or internal lot records do not independently determine or guarantee the legality of a product in every jurisdiction.
Applicable federal, state, territorial, Tribal, and local requirements may differ and may change over time.
Product classification and jurisdiction eligibility are separate determinations.
VI Exotics may restrict product availability when laboratory documentation, testing requirements, classification requirements, or other requirements applicable to a particular product or jurisdiction cannot be satisfactorily met.
DOCUMENTATION & RECORD-KEEPING
VI Exotics may maintain product, source, batch, lot, receiving, packaging, inventory, laboratory, fulfillment, and related records as part of its quality-control, compliance, and traceability practices.
Certain records are maintained for internal business, legal, compliance, inventory, supplier-confidentiality, contractual, or quality-control purposes and may not be publicly disclosed.
Customers who need assistance locating laboratory documentation associated with a particular VI Exotics product may contact us and provide the applicable product, batch, or lot information when available.
VI Exotics may provide applicable customer-facing laboratory documentation without disclosing confidential supplier, commercial, contractual, source, or internal business information except where disclosure is required by applicable law.
THIRD-PARTY LABORATORIES & DOCUMENTATION
Laboratory testing may be performed by independent third-party laboratories that are not owned or controlled by VI Exotics.
VI Exotics may reasonably rely on documentation supplied by laboratories, manufacturers, suppliers, producers, processors, packagers, distributors, or other product sources unless we have reason to believe that the documentation is inaccurate, incomplete, altered, unreliable, inconsistent, or otherwise insufficient.
VI Exotics does not control independent laboratory procedures and does not guarantee information generated solely by an independent laboratory or third party beyond obligations imposed by applicable law.
VI Exotics will not knowingly misrepresent laboratory information presented to customers.
VI Exotics may request additional documentation, seek clarification, decline to rely on particular documentation, require additional testing, or restrict a product when reasonably necessary to address a testing, traceability, classification, or compliance concern.
PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS & NATURAL VARIATION
Cannabis flower is a natural agricultural product.
Appearance, aroma, color, structure, density, moisture, cannabinoid concentration, terpene profile, and other characteristics may vary naturally between strains, harvests, batches, samples, or individual portions of a batch.
Natural variation does not necessarily mean that a product is inconsistent with the laboratory documentation associated with its identified source batch or lot.
NO MEDICAL OR THERAPEUTIC CLAIMS
Laboratory testing and COAs are provided for product transparency, traceability, analytical information, and compliance purposes.
A COA should not be interpreted as medical advice or as evidence that a product will provide any particular medical, therapeutic, health, or wellness benefit.
VI Exotics does not market its products as intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.
Nothing contained in a COA, product label, website, communication, or other VI Exotics material should be interpreted as medical advice.
Additional information is contained in our Product & Responsible Use Disclaimer.
FDA DISCLAIMER
VI Exotics products are not marketed as FDA-approved products for the diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of disease.
Laboratory testing, Certificates of Analysis, QR codes, cannabinoid information, product classification, compliance documentation, or other product information do not constitute or imply FDA approval, certification, authorization, or endorsement.
CHANGES IN LAW & TESTING REQUIREMENTS
Laws, regulations, classifications, testing requirements, laboratory standards, and documentation requirements applicable to cannabis and cannabinoid products may change.
References in this policy to statutes, regulations, classifications, testing standards, or other legal requirements mean those provisions as amended and in effect at the relevant time.
VI Exotics may modify testing, documentation, classification, traceability, labeling, packaging, product-availability, or fulfillment practices when reasonably necessary to respond to changes in applicable requirements.
QUESTIONS ABOUT A COA
Customers with questions regarding laboratory documentation, batch or lot identification, product labeling, or access to an applicable Certificate of Analysis may contact VI Exotics through the contact methods provided on viexotics.com.
VI Exotics will make reasonable efforts to assist customers in identifying or locating the documentation associated with the applicable product batch or lot.
COMPLIANCE TAKES PRIORITY
VI Exotics may delay, restrict, decline, or discontinue availability of a product when reasonably necessary to address laboratory documentation, testing, traceability, classification, regulatory, legal, or other compliance concerns.
If applicable law requires testing or documentation beyond what is available for a particular product or jurisdiction, VI Exotics may obtain or require the applicable documentation through an appropriate source or restrict the applicable product or fulfillment activity.
Compliance takes priority over completing a transaction.
